This ridgeline within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area marks the site where the Portolá Expedition first sighted San Francisco Bay in 1769. The summit at 1,200 feet provides 360-degree views encompassing the Pacific Ocean, Montara Mountain, and the Bay Area. On clear days, the Farallon Islands are visible to the west.

Access from the Sneath Lane trailhead in San Bruno for the shortest route (2 miles one way). Fog frequently blankets the ridge in summer; fall and winter provide clearer conditions.
